Job Description - Sen Teaching Assistant

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: South East London
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Type: Permanent

Monday - Friday 8:30am-4pm

About the SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

We are seeking committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants for our partnered SEN Schools that specialise SEMH across South East London. These are long-term opportunities where you can truly make an impact. You will be working closely with students who require additional support, providing tailored assistance to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a safe and nurturing environment to support the emotional well-being of students.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to support student development.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly SEMH.
  • A patient, compassionate, and understanding approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN or education (desirable but not essential).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
