Job Description - Sen Teaching Assistant - Effingham

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant - September start!

  • Annual Salary: £90 - £115 a day *Plus £1000 Welcome bonus
  • Location: Effingham
  • Job Type: Full-time, Term Time only

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team. This role is crucial in supporting children with their learning and general wellbeing, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment. This position requires a compassionate individual who can occasionally assist with care needs and consistently promote positive behaviour management.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support the Class Teacher in the day-to-day running of the class and be accountable to the school leadership team.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils in line with the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
  • Provide feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships, and attitudes, supporting positive behaviour and concentration levels.
  • Promote spiritual, moral, social, cultural development, and British values within the PSHE policy across the school.
  • Monitor the health and wellbeing of the pupils, attending to personal needs when required, and communicate any concerns or positive changes to relevant colleagues.
  • Establish positive relationships with pupils to support them in feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn.
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development while maintaining high expectations of behaviour.
  • Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher and implement learning activities.
  • Provide feedback on pupil attainment and progress and assist in the monitoring, assessing, recording, and reporting of pupils’ progress according to the school’s policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, parents/carers, and professionals in a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to engage in continuous learning and training.
