Duration: Until Christmas 2026 in the first instance, with the potential for extension should both the school and candidate be happy

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Congleton. The successful candidate will work on a full-time basis providing 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs.
Support the pupil's academic, social and emotional development throughout the school day.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other support staff to implement learning strategies and interventions.
Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the individual needs of the child.
Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence where appropriate.
Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff regarding the child's development and engagement.
Assist with personal care requirements if required.
Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Support the child during lessons, breaktimes, educational visits and other school activities as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a school, care or similar setting.
A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to follow guidance and implement support plans effectively.
Experience supporting children with needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH needs, or other additional learning needs would be advantageous.
A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them to thrive.
Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
