Salary: £39,939 - £42,699 per annum (pro rota for part time ) (Pay Award pending)


Working Hours: 37 Hours Per week 


Contract Type: Secondment ( for 6 months ) Mangers approval required

Are you an experienced problem solver with excellent investigative, analytical and communication skills, and a passion for improving services?


We are seeking a motivated and impartial Complaints Investigator and Resolution Officer to join our Special Educational Needs and Assessment Team on a 6-month secondment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in corporate complaints management, working across a wide range of council services to investigate complex complaints, identify learning opportunities and support service improvement.


About the Role


As a Complaints Investigator and Resolution Officer, you will:



  • Assess and investigate complaints received by the Council at Stage 1 and Stage 2, alongside MP enquiries.

  • Work proactively with the SENA service managers to achieve early resolution wherever possible.

  • Conduct thorough and proportionate investigations, including reviewing evidence, interviewing key parties and analysing complex information.

  • Produce clear, concise and well-reasoned investigation reports and complaint responses.

  • Support responses to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman.

  • Work with managers to identify service improvements and ensure lessons learned are embedded.

  • Analyse complaints trends and performance data to inform organisational learning.

  • Build effective relationships with colleagues, partners and members of the public at all levels.


This post is politically restricted therefore the post holder is disqualified from undertaking certain political activities under the Local Government Officers (Political Restrictions) Regulations 1990.


 


About You


To apply for this post, you must:



  • Degree or equivalent Experience of investigating complaints, reviews, appeals, casework or other complex enquiries. Experience in carrying out complaint investigation

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess evidence objectively and reach balanced conclusions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.

  • The confidence to challenge constructively and influence positive outcomes.

  • Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders and handling sensitive issues.

  • The ability to work independently whilst managing multiple priorities.

  • Strong IT skills and experience of using case management or CRM systems.


Experience or knowledge of Local Government complaints processes, Children's Services, Social Care, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), or Ombudsman investigations would be particularly advantageous.
