SEND Education Support Assistant

Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Southwark Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a SEND Education Support Assistant this role will be based at: SE172QB

The right candidate will:

You will be part of the Gateway Service, based at the Southwark Resource Centre and Mint Street Adventure Playground both vibrant and inclusive hubs for disability education and activity services

As a SEND Education Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with learning disabilities, autism, sensory needs, and physical disabilities to achieve their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes.

* Provide person-centred, outcome-focused interventions in the community, in the Southwark Resource Centre, or in other appropriate settings.

* Assist SEND Progression Mentors with their key working duties, individuals, facilitating tailored activities to build confidence, promote inclusion, develop English and Maths and increase independence.

* Connect young people with local networks, community services, and digital resources to enhance well-being and resilience.

* Support and encourage participation through emotional, positive behavioural and practical support, including personal care when needed.

We require the following:

* Experienced in supporting individuals with complex needs, including those with behaviours of concern.

* Skilled in facilitating group and individual activities that align with EHCP outcomes.
