SEND HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

A school in Dawlish is looking for an SEND HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) in a post 16 class to start on 3rd November 2025 on a temp- perm / contracted opportunity. £23,000 - £30,000 per year. 

We are seeking a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our specialist provision in Dawlish. You will be working with Post‑16 students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping to support their learning, independence, and transition into adult life or further education.

What the school are looking for

• HLTA status or equivalent experience of working in an SEN setting, especially with Post-16 students. 
• Enhanced DBS check, and willingness to undergo any required safeguarding checks and training.
• Deep understanding of autism, communication difficulties, learning disabilities, and other complex needs.
• Excellent communication skills with students, staff, families and external agencies
• Patience, resilience, adaptability, and a creative approach to teaching and support.
• Ability to work as part of a team and to follow multi‑disciplinary plans.
• The ability to promote and encourage independence, life skills and personal development
