SEND Learning Support Assistant - Driver (Outreach)

Chelmsford & Colchester | Essex
Full-time & Part-time Opportunities Available
Driving Licence & Access to Own Vehicle Required

Make a difference beyond the classroom — support young people in their community.

We are looking for a passionate, reliable, and adaptable SEND Learning Support Assistant (Outreach) to join our outreach support team across Chelmsford, Colchester, and surrounding areas. This is a unique opportunity to work with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) outside of a traditional school environment — supporting them in their homes, community settings, or during transitions back into education.

The Role
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to children and young people with SEND, including Autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health), and other complex needs.

  • Work in home, community, or educational settings to deliver tailored learning and emotional support.

  • Support pupils with reintegration into school, college, or alternative provisions.

  • Build positive relationships with families, schools, and professionals.

  • Maintain accurate records and feedback to the wider team.

About You
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (education, care, or community settings).

  • Confident working independently and managing your own schedule.

  • A calm, patient, and compassionate approach.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential for travel across Chelmsford, Colchester, and surrounding areas).

  • Flexible and adaptable — every day is different.

We Offer
  • Competitive pay, with mileage expenses covered.

  • Full training and ongoing support.

  • The opportunity to genuinely change lives and help young people thrive.

  • Flexible hours to fit around your schedule (full-time and part-time roles available).

This role would suit candidates with experience in:

  • SEND Learning Support

  • Outreach Support Work

  • Youth Work or Mentoring

  • Social Care or Community Support

  • SEMH, Autism, or Complex Needs Support

If you are ready to make a real impact in your community, we would love to hear from you.
Apply today and help support young people across Chelmsford, Colchester, and Essex to reach their full potential.
