SEND TA, supporting a Y3 student with ASD

I am working with a vibrant Catholic  Primary school located in Wiltshire that is more than just a place where children learn to read and write. This school has an exciting opportunity for a SEND TA to join a year 3 student from now until the end of the academic year. You will play a vital role in a child's educational, emotional and social development, working directly with them on a 1:1 basis. You must be able to provide a calm, consistent and reassuring presence, adapting classroom materials to encourage engagement and proactive learning.

Responsibilities:

• Adapting lesson materials, making them accessible to the pupil.
• Providing one to one support during class.
• Reinforcing learning objectives set by the teacher.
• Assisting with literacy and numerical tasks breaking them down into more manageable steps.
• Understanding the individual needs of the pupil to best support them in class.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with SEND children. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the pupil, parents and colleagues effectively.
• Patience, empathy and resilience to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Relevant qualifications and training in supporting children with SEND.
• An understanding of relevant safe guarding and child protection procedures.
