Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - All Saints CE Primary School: All Saints CE Primary School, Main Street, Kirkby Overblow, Harrogate, 1 HG3 1HD & North Rigton CE Primary School: North Rigton CE Primary School, Hall Green Lane, North Rigton, Leeds, LS17 0DW



All Saints CE Primary School in Kirkby Overblow and North Rigton CE Primary School in North Rigton work collaboratively within ‘The Fellowship’, under the Headship of Mrs Andrews. Both schools are part of Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust and maintain close relationships with parents and the local community.



The schools are ecumenical in outlook and welcome children from other Christian traditions. They serve the local communities of North Rigton and Kirkby Overblow and aim to teach Christian values and standards of behaviour and to demonstrate these qualities in everyday life.



North Rigton’s most recent Ofsted in May 2022 judged the school as good overall with the behaviour and safety of pupils ranked as outstanding. The SIAMS inspection in January 2023 judged the school as good.



 All Saints were inspected by Ofsted in November 2022 where they judged that the school remained good and praised the ‘real family feel’ of the school. The SIAMS inspection in March 2018 the school was judged as outstanding.



We are currently seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team. MUST BE A DRIVER – please do not apply unless you hold a full driving licence and have access to your own car.


 


Apprenticeship Summary:





  • Salary: £6.40 an hour

  • Working Week: Monday to Friday 8:45am – 3:30pm including a 45 minute break

  • Hours: 30 hours per week

  • Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors 

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification 

  • Locations: All Saints CE Primary School: All Saints CE Primary School, Main Street, Kirkby Overblow, Harrogate, 1 HG3 1HD & North Rigton CE Primary School: North Rigton CE Primary School, Hall Green Lane, North Rigton, Leeds, LS17 0DW


The Role:



To work with the class teacher supporting SEND pupils within class and on a one-to-one basis. There will also be the need to support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff and may be responsible for some learning activities within the overall teaching plan. May work in the classroom or appropriate location within the school, with access to support and guidance as required.



Supporting Learning & Development



  • Assist with planned learning/behaviour activities and observations to support planning and evaluation.

  • Use questioning to support pupils' thinking and learning.

  • Help with behaviour management, teaching strategies, and pupil wellbeing, including social, health, and emotional needs.

  • Support the development and implementation of individual plans (IEPs, behaviour, mentoring).

  • Develop 1:1 mentoring relationships with pupils.

  • Escort and supervise pupils on educational trips.

  • Advise pupils on learning, behaviour, and attendance choices.

  • Encourage self-esteem and motivate pupils.


Communication



  • Build effective relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and professionals.

  • Communicate clearly with pupils, families, and external agencies.


Sharing Information



  • Share confidential information with staff and professionals as needed.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

  • Pass on relevant information at the start and end of each day.


Safeguarding & Welfare



  • Assist with personal hygiene and welfare, encouraging independence.

  • Safeguard pupil welfare in line with policy, raising concerns as needed.


Administration/Other



  • Support ICT usage and follow related policies.

  • Supervise pupils during exams, ensuring compliance with regulations.

  • Participate in training and development activities.


Health & Safety



  • Follow health and safety responsibilities, ensuring a safe working environment.


Data Protection



  • Comply with policies on Data Protection, Information Security, and Confidentiality.

  • Promote inclusion and respect for diversity.

  • Work according to the Equality policy.

The successful candidate will have the following:



Knowledge


• An awareness of child/young person’s development and learning


• An understanding that children/Young people have differing needs


 


Experience


• Some experience appropriate to working with children


• Experience working with children who have additional needs



Qualifications


• GCSE English and Maths


• Relevant childcare or equivalent qualification


 


Occupational Skills


• Good written and verbal communication skills: able to communicate effectively and clearly and build relationships with a range of staff, children, young people, their families and carers


• Good reading, writing and numeracy Skills


• Basic ICT Skills

Training and Development:



As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:


·       Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma.


·       On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.


·       Regular review meetings to track progress and development.

The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
