Are you someone who thrives on supporting young people with additional needs? A secondary school in Newham is currently looking for a passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a full-time role starting in September, ideal for someone with experience or a strong interest in working with students who have Autism and learning difficulties.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-respected school that places strong emphasis on inclusive education and personalised support. You’ll be working with pupils aged 11 to 16, helping them build key skills and confidence both in and out of the classroom.

What the Role Involves:

  • Providing tailored support to students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Helping pupils with emotional regulation, social communication, and managing behaviour positively.
  • Making use of structured strategies such as PECS, visual aids, and sensory tools.
  • Collaborating closely with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams to implement individual learning plans.

The school offers a warm, structured environment with specialist resources and a strong focus on life skills and independence. Staff are committed to helping every student achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience with Autism and learning difficulties, either in a school, residential, or care setting.
  • A calm and patient approach, with the ability to remain consistent in the face of challenging behaviour.
  • Confident working with secondary-age students.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must hold GSCE English and Maths

Why Apply?

  • Be part of a nurturing, student-focused school in Newham.
  • Access to excellent facilities designed for learners with additional needs.
  • Ongoing training and career development opportunities.
  • Join a staff team that truly values each member and supports one another.
