Your new company A well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice based in Brecon is seeking an experienced Practice Manager / Senior Accountant to join its growing team. With a strong local reputation and a loyal portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders and SMEs to limited companies, this firm offers a varied and rewarding role for an individual looking to take on a key leadership position within a successful practice.
Your new role As Practice Manager / Senior Accountant, you will oversee a diverse client portfolio while supporting the Partners with the day-to-day management of the practice. This is a hands-on role combining client-facing responsibilities, technical accounting expertise and team leadership. Key responsibilities will include:
Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, sole traders and limited companies Reviewing accounts, tax returns and management accounts prepared by junior team members Preparing statutory accounts in line with current accounting standards Advising clients on accounting, tax and business matters Building and maintaining strong client relationships Supporting the development and mentoring of junior accountants Managing workflow, deadlines and resource planning across the practice Assisting with practice growth initiatives and identifying opportunities within the client base Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and professional standards What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
ACA or ACCA qualification (or be qualified by experience within practice) Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax and personal tax Experience reviewing work and supervising junior staff Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines A commercial and proactive approach to client service Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage would be advantageousWhat you'll get in return
