Senior AI Prompt Engineer

Job Title: Senior AI Prompt Engineer (Contract) Location: Sheffield, UK (Hybrid: 2-3 days on-site) Duration: 6 Months (with potential extension) Experience: 5-7 Years

Role Overview We are seeking a Senior AI Prompt Engineer to drive enterprise-grade AI solutions across software development and business workflows. This is a highly technical role that bridges advanced prompt strategy with hands-on software engineering, focusing on AI-assisted developer productivity and automated system integration.

Key Responsibilities

Design, optimize, and manage advanced prompts for GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot (M365 & Studio), and Claude/Claude Code.

Develop and maintain complex PowerShell scripts to support AI-driven workflows and enterprise system integrations.

Build, support, and scale AI-enhanced automation pipelines and internal developer tooling.

Securely integrate LLM capabilities into existing platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise systems.

Establish prompt engineering standards, governance patterns, and evaluation metrics for AI output quality and cost.

Essential Requirements

Proven track record in advanced AI prompt engineering combined with traditional software/automation engineering.

Hands-on expertise utilizing GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude Code for code generation, review, and refactoring.

Deep proficiency in PowerShell scripting, enterprise automation, and system administration.

Strong database background, specifically with SQL Server.

Programming proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or advanced PowerShell.

Desirable Skills

Hands-on experience with Azure AI, OpenAI APIs, or Anthropic APIs.

Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and enterprise automation platforms.

Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures, vector databases, and knowledge systems.

Previous experience deploying AI solutions within large-scale or regulated enterprise environments.
