We are working with an innovative, high-growth technology business specialising in advanced semiconductor solutions and next-generation touch technologies. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior Algorithm Engineer to take technical ownership of algorithm development for RISC-V-based capacitive touch controllers.
This is an opportunity to work across sensor physics, mixed-signal electronics and digital signal processing (DSP), developing solutions to complex real-world sensing, noise and interference challenges.
The Role - Senior Algorithm Engineer - Fareham, Hampshire
You will lead algorithm development from initial problem definition and modelling through to experimentation, optimisation and validation on real hardware.
Key responsibilities include:
* Owning algorithm development projects from concept through to hardware validation.
* Designing and optimising filtering, calibration and noise-rejection algorithms.
* Developing models of capacitive sensors, analogue front ends (AFE), ADCs and digital signal chains.
* Planning and leading measurements using sensor prototypes and IC evaluation platforms.
* Investigating differences between simulation models and real-world hardware performance.
* Collaborating with system architects, IC design, firmware and validation teams.
* Documenting findings, presenting technical recommendations and mentoring junior colleagues.
About You - Senior Algorithm Engineer - Fareham, Hampshire
We are looking for someone with approximately 5–15 years of relevant industry experience across DSP, algorithm development, sensors or mixed-signal engineering.
You will ideally have:
* A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Signal Processing or a related discipline.
* Strong experience designing, analysing and optimising signal-processing algorithms.
* A good understanding of sampling, filtering, noise and time/frequency-domain analysis.
* Practical knowledge of sensors, analogue/mixed-signal systems and ADCs.
* Strong proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for modelling, simulation and data analysis.
* Experience validating models and algorithms against experimental data and real hardware.
* The ability to independently solve complex technical problems and work across multidisciplinary teams.
* Capacitive touch, HMI, display-coupled sensing or similar sensor technologies.
* Fixed-point algorithms, embedded C/C++ or DSP implementation on microcontrollers.
* RISC-V architectures, ASIC development, SPICE, Verilog or FPGA prototyping.
* Sensor physics or electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys/HFSS.
* Applied machine learning or statistical estimation for sensor measurements.
