Senior Bid Writer Location: London (Hybrid Working Available) Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Benefits
About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Bid Writer to join a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation delivering major projects across the UK energy sector. Based in London, this is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in the development of high-quality bid submissions for complex heavy civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working closely with senior stakeholders, operational teams, and subject matter experts, you will be responsible for producing compelling, winning tender responses while helping to shape bid strategy and drive continuous improvement across the bid function.
Responsibilities: - Lead the development and production of high-quality bid and tender submissions for major civil engineering and energy infrastructure opportunities. - Write, edit, review, and enhance technical and non-technical content to create compelling customer-focused responses. - Coordinate bid inputs from operational, engineering, commercial, HSEQ, and project delivery teams. - Support and contribute to win strategies, value propositions, and key messaging. - Ensure all submissions are fully compliant with client requirements and submission deadlines. - Mentor and support junior bid team members where required. - Facilitate bid review meetings and manage the response development process. - Maintain and develop bid libraries, case studies, CVs, and best-practice content. - Drive improvements in bid quality, consistency, and processes across the business.
Requirement: - Proven experience as a Senior Bid Writer, Bid Writer, Proposals Manager, or similar role. - Strong background within heavy civils, civil engineering, infrastructure, energy, utilities, power, or major construction projects. - Demonstrable experience leading complex bid submissions with contract values ranging from several million pounds to major infrastructure programmes. - Exceptional written communication, editing, and proofreading skills. - Ability to influence and engage stakeholders across all levels of the business. - Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. - Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality submissions. - Experience within the energy, power transmission, renewable energy, or utility sectors. - Understanding of NEC contracts and infrastructure procurement processes. - APMP Practitioner certification or equivalent bid management qualification. - Experience mentoring or supporting developing bid professionals Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
