A Senior Bridge Engineer is required to join an award-winning multi-discipline building design consultancy on a permanent basis in Durham. As the Senior Engineer, you will be working closely with the Principal Engineer to lead the team in the appraisal, assessment, and design of bridge structures. Responsibilities include providing detailed designs from option study to detailed design, including preliminary design and outline cost estimates, performing GI and PI bridge inspections and assessments, preparing analytical models, perform analyses and detailed calculations, and preparing AIPs, reports, specifications, and contract documents etc. You will also be required to supervise and mentor junior engineers, complete H&S risk assessments, supervise technicians to prepare technical drawings / models, and attend site visits as required.

The successful candidate will be qualified at degree level or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering and be working towards chartership and have significant experience working on and leading small to large scale bridge designing projects. You will also have knowledge and experience of using the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW), familiarity with Eurocodes and British Standards for the design and assessment of bridges and civil structures, and be conversant with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, MIDAS, LUSAS, and Autodesk SBD.
