Senior Building Services Engineer

Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 per annum DOE
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, no weekends
Location: Wiltshire

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Building Services Engineer to join their technical team in Wiltshire.

This is a senior technical leadership position, providing engineering expertise across a complex military estate. The successful candidate will act as a senior technical authority, supporting the effective operation, maintenance and long-term performance of critical building services assets.

The Role

Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across a broad range of building services disciplines.

Act as the senior technical authority and escalation point for complex engineering issues, critical asset failures and operational risks.

Lead root cause investigations, identify recurring defects and implement engineering solutions to improve reliability and reduce risk.

Evaluate asset performance and develop lifecycle replacement strategies to support long-term operational resilience.

Provide technical support during major incidents, service disruptions and business continuity events.

Work closely with operational teams, contractors and key stakeholders to ensure engineering standards and requirements are maintained.

Manage and oversee subcontractor performance where required.

Produce and review technical reports, investigations and engineering recommendations.

Coach, mentor and develop technical capability across the wider engineering and estates teams.

Build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Building Services Engineer with a strong technical background and the ability to operate at a senior level.

You will ideally have:

A degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Chartered Engineer status or be actively working towards chartership through an appropriate professional institution.

Strong experience across building services engineering within a complex commercial, industrial, defence or FM environment.

Practical knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, hot and cold-water systems, heat pumps, BMS and control systems.

Experience of investigating complex engineering issues and carrying out root cause analysis.

Experience producing technical reports and engineering recommendations.

Experience managing or overseeing subcontractors.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

The confidence to act as a technical authority and provide guidance across multiple teams.
