Job Description - Senior Business Officer

Senior Business Support Officer

Location: Hybrid - Westminster City Hall & Remote Working
Hours: 36 per week | Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm
Contract: 3 months (12th May 2025 - 4th August 2025), with potential to extend
Pay Rate: £27 per hour
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

About the Role

Westminster City Council is seeking a Senior Business Support Officer to join the Housing & Commercial Partnership team. This is a key administrative role supporting a busy Head of Service, ensuring the smooth running of daily operations and managing a varied, fast-paced workload.

This is a hybrid working role - initial training will be onsite at Westminster City Hall, followed by remote working arrangements.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing high-level administrative support to the Head of Service

  • Managing inboxes, coordinating diaries, and prioritising tasks

  • Acting as first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders

  • Logging and managing cases, maintaining spreadsheets and data systems

  • Handling queries with empathy, professionalism, and initiative

  • Taking ownership of workstreams and driving them to resolution

  • Liaising with teams across the council to ensure efficient communication

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone proactive, dependable, and solutions-focused. You should thrive in a fast-moving environment and be confident working independently while supporting senior leaders.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Business Support Officer or senior admin role

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities

  • Confidence handling sensitive queries and data

  • Skilled in using spreadsheets and digital case management tools

  • Able to multitask and adapt to changing priorities

Desirable:

  • Experience working within or alongside homelessness services or local government
