Buyer – Infrastructure & Construction Materials

Are you an experienced Buyer with a strong background in infrastructure, construction, or steel procurement? Our client, a leading supplier to UK and international infrastructure projects, is seeking a proactive and commercially astute professional to join their procurement team.

Key Responsibilities

Source and procure a wide range of materials and components for infrastructure and construction projects, including steel and mechanical items.

Build and maintain supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, quality assurance, and timely delivery.

Negotiate terms and contracts to optimise cost, service, and value across the supply chain.

Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to deliver accurate and compliant quotations.

Evaluate supplier performance based on reliability, capability, and delivery metrics.

Ensure all procurement activities align with project specifications, budgets, and compliance standards.

Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and support reporting requirements.

Continuously develop supplier networks using both internal systems and industry contacts.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience in buying or procurement within the infrastructure, construction, or steel sectors.

Strong understanding of mechanical and electro-mechanical components.

Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and international trade logistics.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively across teams and with external partners.
