Job Description - Senior Buyer

Role: Senior Buyer
Type: Permanent
Pay: £55,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 – 17:00
Location: Coventry

Are you a Senior Buyer looking for your next opportunity? I’m currently representing a leading Engineering Design andManufacturing company based in Coventry and they’re looking for a Senior Buyer to join them on a permanent basis due to growth in the business.

Job Description
  • Procurement Strategy & Supplier Management: Lead procurement initiatives, reduce the supplier base, establish group purchasing agreements, and ensure supplier contract compliance with company strategy and policy.
  • Supply Chain Optimisation & Performance: Improve and measure supply chain performance, manage the efficient flow of materials and tooling for national and international projects, and approve stock purchases in line with business requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance & International Trade: Ensure full compliance with customs regulations and HMRC requirements; act as the main point of contact for international trade, customs documentation, and incoterms.
  • Project & Tender Support: Provide procurement expertise and pricing input for tenders, support project managers in achieving best value, and lead procurement for capital equipment and special projects.
  • Contractual Risk & Reporting: Support the review and interpretation of supplier/customer terms and conditions, manage contractual risks during tender stages, and implement controls with structured management reporting.

Senior Buyer
Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a Buyer within a Technical/Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in purchasing parts such as machining, castings, forgings etc.
  • Experience within the power generation industry, preferably with rotating equipment
  • Ideal if you can read Engineering drawings but not essential
  • Ideal if you have experience in import/export
