The Role: Senior Care Assistant with On-Call Responsibilities
Step up to a leadership role where you'll ensure excellent care delivery while supporting and developing our care team. You'll be a crucial link between frontline care and management, making real decisions that impact client wellbeing.
Your expanded responsibilities:
Direct care delivery - Provide hands-on care to complex cases and challenging situations
Team supervision - Guide, mentor and support 6-10 care assistants in their daily work
Quality assurance - Conduct spot checks, ensure CQC compliance, and maintain care standards
Crisis management - Step in during staff absences, resolve urgent issues, and cover emergency visits
Training support - Assist with new staff induction and ongoing development
Client liaison - Build relationships with families, healthcare professionals, and social services
Your typical week: Combine hands-on care visits with supervisory duties, on-call rotations, and team development activities. You'll spend quality time with clients while ensuring your team delivers exceptional care.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Minimum 2 years of domiciliary or healthcare experience
Valid UK driving licence and reliable vehicle
Right to work in the UK
Leadership or supervisory experience (care setting preferred)
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent qualification) or NVQ Level 2, willing to work towards Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions
Availability for on-call duties including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
Physical capability for personal care and mobility assistance
Commitment to CQC standards and safeguarding principles
Highly Desirable:
Team Leader or Senior Carer experience
Experience with medication administration
Knowledge of care planning and risk assessments
First aid certification
Experience handling family concerns and complaints
Understanding of mental capacity and safeguarding procedures
Excellent Pay & Benefits Package
Enhanced Rates for Senior Role:
Starting: £12.50/hour (experienced care assistant stepping up)
Qualified Senior: Up to £13.00/hour
Travel time is paid
Mileage: 25p per mile reimbursed
Enhanced rates: Time and a half pay bank holidays (up to £19.50/hour), Double pay Christmas Day (up to £26.00/hour)
