Job Description - Senior Commercial Analyst

Are you a data-driven problem-solver with a passion for uncovering commercial insights? We're looking for a Senior Commercial Analyst to join a private equity backed business based in Cannock — someone with the skills to transform raw data into meaningful reports and recommendations that support strategic business decisions.

As a Senior Commercial Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving performance through high-quality analysis and reporting. You’ll work closely with Sales, Finance, and Commercial teams to deliver actionable insights on sales trends, pricing, customer performance, and revenue opportunities.

You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining dynamic Power BI dashboards, analysing large data sets, and presenting clear, commercial insights that influence business strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Build, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to track sales performance, customer trends, and KPIs.
  • Analyse sales data, pricing, and margin performance to identify risks, opportunities, and trends.
  • Provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making across Commercial and Sales teams.
  • Develop robust reporting tools and forecasting models to support sales planning and target setting.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand reporting needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with data-led insights and modelling.

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in a commercial analyst, FP&A, or sales analytics role.
  • Advanced skills in Power BI - confident in building dashboards, data modelling.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills; familiarity with SQL is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of sales performance metrics, pricing analysis, and revenue reporting.
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and transforming them into clear, visual, and impactful reports.
  • Commercially minded with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a sales-driven or B2B product-led business.
  • Knowledge of ERP/CRM systems and how data integrates across platforms.
