Senior Commercial Manager

Home-based contract with one day a week based in Swansea 

Role:

Lead and own the overall commercial relationship with designated key retail customers, acting as the primary senior contact
Define and deliver customer account strategy to achieve agreed sales, margin and profitability targets
Develop and maintain strong senior‑level relationships across customer functions, including regular engagement at customer head office
Set commercial direction for the account, including pricing strategy, promotional planning, range development and long‑term growth opportunities
Lead pricing negotiations with customers and approve pricing within agreed commercial authority levels
Oversee range reviews and approve range changes based on performance, margin and category objectives
Provide commercial leadership on new product development, working with NPD to identify and prioritise opportunities aligned to customer strategy
Own and approve customer promotional plans, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives
Ensure effective delivery of new product launches, retaining accountability for commercial readiness and customer approval
Review and challenge sales forecasts, performance reports and financial data to ensure accuracy and alignment with targets
Lead cross‑functional collaboration across Category, Marketing, NPD, Supply Chain and Technical to deliver customer objectives
Maintain a detailed understanding of customer category dynamics, competitor activity and market trends to inform commercial decisions

Requirements:

Significant experience in a senior commercial or account management role within a manufacturing or FMCG environment supplying major retail customers
Proven track record of managing key customer relationships with accountability for sales and margin performance
Strong commercial acumen with experience of pricing, negotiations, range management and promotional planning
