Nucleome Therapeutics is unlocking the power of the human non-coding genome to drive breakthroughs in immune-mediated and complex diseases. We combine high-resolution maps of 3D genome architecture with functional genomics, advanced sequencing technologies, and computational innovation to reveal novel regulatory mechanisms and therapeutic targets.
We are seeking a Senior Computational Genomics Scientist to join our growing team and play a key role in transforming large-scale genomic and perturbation datasets into deep biological insight. Working closely with our functional genomics, computational biology, data engineering, and drug discovery teams, you will design and refine analysis approaches that illuminate gene regulation, variant function, and disease-relevant pathways.
This role is ideal for an experienced bioinformatician who not only builds robust pipelines, but also thinks deeply about the underlying biological questions, develops bespoke methods when needed, and enjoys working at the interface of technology and discovery science.
Key responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain analysis pipelines for novel NGS and functional genomics workflows
Generate actionable biological insights from complex datasets
Take scientific ownership of major analyses-from question framing to method selection to interpretation-supporting target discovery and mechanistic understanding.
Integrate diverse genomic data types, including chromatin architecture, gene expression, perturbation readouts and genetic variation, to map regulatory elements.
Develop custom analyses and exploratory models where off-the-shelf tools are insufficient, particularly in areas of regulatory and non-coding genome interpretation.
Collaborate closely across disciplines
Partner with functional genomics experimental scientists to drive strategic technology advances, design experiments, define analytical requirements, and ensure data is generated with computational rigour in mind.
Work with software and data engineering teams to ensure pipelines scale reliably, follow best practices, and integrate into Nucleome's data platform.
Collaborate with AI / ML engineers on conceptualising models based on genomics and identify, organise, and prepare relevant genomics datasets for training and testing.
Communicate results clearly to scientific and non-scientific audiences, influencing decision-making across discovery programmes.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Essential
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Statistical Genetics, or a related quantitative discipline-or equivalent industry experience
Extensive hands-on experience analysing NGS datasets from multiple modalities
Demonstrated experience in developing bioinformatics workflows for novel or customised genomic or biological problems
Proficiency in Python (and ideally R), with experience using standard bioinformatics tools and command-line environments.
Deep understanding of genome biology, regulatory mechanisms, and functional genomics assays.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex analyses to varied audiences.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative biotech environment, balancing detail-oriented analysis with broader scientific context.
Desirable
Experience in building scalable, reproducible computational workflows using workflow management (e.g., Nextflow), cloud-based compute environments, and containerization technologies.
Previous industry or collaborative-research experience in drug target discovery and validation
