Senior Contract Accountant

We are currently supporting a well-established organisation based in South Birmingham in their search for a Senior Contract Accountant. This is a key role within a commercially focused finance team that plays an integral part in driving strategic decision-making and improving financial performance across the business.

This position offers a competitive salary of up to £35,000 per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with senior stakeholders to support strategic and operational decisions, identifying financial risks and growth opportunities.

• Attend client and site meetings to maintain a strong understanding of business priorities and ensure financial alignment.

• Provide detailed and insightful financial analysis to support business unit performance and decision-making.

• Manage and maintain accurate balance sheets, escalating any significant risks.

• Prepare comprehensive financial reports including month-end close, business performance reviews, budgeting, and cash flow analysis for senior leadership.

• Guide and support operational teams in interpreting financial reports and improving their financial performance.

• Conduct thorough monthly balance sheet reviews and present key findings to leadership.

• Drive effective working capital management through timely invoicing and proactive debt resolution.

• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate consolidation and meaningful variance analysis.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Actively studying towards a CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualification, and approaching completion.

• Significant experience in management accounting, including preparation of reports and analysis for commercial use.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data for a non-financial audience.

• Highly analytical with meticulous attention to detail.

• Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.

• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial systems.
