Role Overview: Join our team as a Quantity Surveyor and play a pivotal role in managing cash flow, cost control, and profitability for our exciting construction projects. You’ll work closely with production and technical teams, ensuring the smooth delivery of high-quality works while meeting financial goals. With a focus on proactive analysis, contract management, and ensuring compliance, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact in the construction and development sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Production & Technical Leads to identify risks and manage project scope within agreed timelines.
Attend design meetings and ensure timely execution of actions.
Prepare contract sum analysis, cash flows, and valuations to maintain positive cash flow and maximise project profitability.
Ensure timely payments from clients and retention payments post-completion.
Manage subcontractor valuations, payments, and ensure compliance with contract conditions.
Review drawings for cost-saving opportunities while ensuring project requirements are met.
Oversee the procurement process, ensuring timely subcontract orders and approvals.
Produce accurate and timely Cost Valuation Reports (CVCs) for project review and approval.
Manage final accounts and ensure adherence to company protocols, aiming for successful completion and payment.
Mentor trainees and work closely with other departments to drive efficient communication and problem solving.
Success Measures:
Accurate contract valuations and cash flow management.
Timely and compliant procurement and subcontractor payments.
Effective cost-saving initiatives and design recommendations.
Smooth collaboration across teams and successful resolution of issues.
Timely agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
Skills & Experience:
Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or a related field (HND/HNC, degree, or equivalent).
Membership of MCIOB or RICS.
Proven experience in contract and quantity surveying, construction budgeting, and managing mixed-tenure schemes.
Strong commercial experience, particularly within residential development or contracting.
In-depth knowledge of UK building regulations, health and safety, and construction techniques.
Strong competency in remeasurement for various construction elements (e.g., Piling, Groundworks, RC Frame).
Excellent numerical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge of H&S compliance, risk assessments, and method statements.
Experience in value engineering and procurement management.
