Cost Control Lead – Established Gas Plant Project Team

Are you an experienced Cost Control, Commercial or Finance professional looking for your next opportunity within an established gas plant environment?
We are currently recruiting for a Cost Control Lead to join an established project and operations team at the Morecambe Hub.
This is a key role in providing cost visibility, control and confidence to budget holders, supporting the reliability of the project plan through proactive forecasting, accurate reporting and effective cost management.
The Role
Working closely with the Morecambe Hub Asset, Business Partnering Lead, Finance, Engineering and third-party providers, you will support the effective management of OPEX, maintenance, inspection, modifications and capital budgets.
Your focus will be on ensuring costs are understood, forecast accurately and aligned with the agreed workscope and business plan.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly accruals and OPEX forecasts, maintaining accurate cost trackers Support month-end close and provide reliable cost information to budget holders Analyse SAP data, including Value of Work Done (VOWD) Oversee timewriting analysis and follow up outstanding timesheet entries Review contract cost reports against the Business Plan and investigate variances Identify trends, inefficiencies, risks, errors and potential cost-saving opportunities Support and assure the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process Review Change Orders and ensure PO uplifts are approved before work commences Maintain Purchase Orders, ensuring accurate coding and timely closure Review rental hire usage and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenditure Support Single Source Justification processes Work with budget holders, supply chain, finance and suppliers to strengthen cost control Participate in project and supplier meetings, providing financial and commercial insight
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong analytical ability with practical commercial and cost-control experience.
You should have:
Strong Microsoft Excel and SAP skills Previous experience in Cost Control, Finance or Commercial Administration Experience of budgeting, forecasting and cost management Understanding of Procure-to-Pay processes Excellent numerical and analytical skills Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies and trends Confident communication and presentation skills A proactive approach to problem-solving and financial governance
An HNC in Business Management or equivalent experience is desirable.
Experience within the Oil & Gas sector, particularly within both operator and contractor environments, would be advantageous.
