Senior Data Scientist

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will tackle some of the most complex data challenges, applying advanced AI and machine learning to real-world problems. You will work in a consultative, hands-on role, collaborating with clients and internal teams to design, build, and deploy impactful AI solutions.

Due to the sensitive nature of this work, candidates must be willing to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) security clearance, be sole British nationals, and have not spent more than 29 consecutive days outside the UK in the last 5 years. Please note that this role does not provide visa sponsorship and is not open to applicants on Skilled Worker or Dependent visas.

This role offers the opportunity to deliver real-world impact, working with diverse data types - including text, images, audio, video, graphs, and geolocation - while applying cutting-edge methods in AI, machine learning, and statistics.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Work alongside leading data scientists, AI researchers, and engineers on national security projects
• Deliver AI-enabled, data-driven solutions across government, defence, and space sectors
• Explore and implement machine learning models on complex, multi-modal datasets
• Influence technical direction and best practice in AI, ML, and statistics
• Mentor and support junior data scientists and graduates
• Engage directly with clients to scope, design, and deliver scientifically-justified solutions

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a technical lead and trusted advisor for AI and data science expertise across projects and bids
• Lead and contribute to AI and ML projects, collaborating with ML engineers, project managers, and non-technical stakeholders
• Meet with clients to understand their challenges, scope projects, and plan delivery of AI solutions
• Support the deployment of machine learning models into production using cloud-based platforms
• Research and evaluate novel AI methods to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions
• Present complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Mentor and guide junior team members and graduates
• Promote AI and data science knowledge across client engagements through workshops, events, and publications

Key Requirements:

• Willingness to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) security clearance
• Sole British national with no more than 29 consecutive days outside the UK in the last 5 years
• Proven experience as a Senior Data Scientist or equivalent role
• Strong expertise in AI, machine learning, and statistical methods
• Proficiency in Python and ML/data analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, transformers, statsmodels)
• Experience with cloud-based ML deployment (e.g., AWS services)
• Ability to absorb complex scientific concepts and apply them to real-world problems
• Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to deliver real-world impact
