Senior Design Engineer

Lead Design Engineer

An established engineering business is looking to recruit a Lead Design Engineer to take ownership of design deliverables across a range of complex mechanical handling projects. This role would suit someone with strong design experience looking for a next step up or someone senior who's keen for a new challenge.

The Role

* Lead the design and development of equipment and systems from concept through to manufacture

* Oversee 3D models, technical drawings, and design documentation

* Coordinate design reviews and manage technical interfaces across projects

* Ensure all outputs meet industry standards, project specifications, and quality requirements

* Support and mentor Design Engineers within the team

* Carry out site visits and surveys when required

* Drive improvements around safety, DfMA, standardisation, and value engineering

What They’re Looking For

* HNC, Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

* Strong background in bulk material handling, conveyors or machinery

* Experience using Autodesk Inventor and PDM systems (or Similar)

* Good understanding of BS 8888 and manufacturing processes linked to heavy fabrication

* Confident leading projects and checking technical documentation

* Able to manage workloads across multiple projects and support junior engineers
