Overview:

Our client is a leading manufacturer of large, industrial machinery that has its application in a variety of different industries and is sold to customers worldwide. They are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Design Manager to lead a team of talented design engineers at their facility in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. This is a key leadership position with end-to-end responsibility across the full design lifecycle - from initial sales and applications input through to concept development and final project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of design engineers.
• Take ownership of all design projects, ensuring on-time delivery, technical excellence, and compliance with standards.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Applications, and Project teams to understand customer requirements and develop innovative solutions.
• Drive the concept development process and oversee the detailed design, validation, and release of engineering drawings and documentation.
• Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice within the design team.
• Act as a mentor and key technical authority and point of escalation within the business.

Person Specification:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Autocad expertise with preferred exposure to Inventor.
• Extensive experience in product design within the heavy machinery or capital equioment sector.
• Proven track record of managing or leading engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
• Prepared to be a hands on manager and get involved in design concept work when required.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
