Senior Director of AI/ML - £200,000+ Base + Equity | AI-Native Infrastructure | London (Hybrid)

I'm currently partnered with one of the most ambitious AI-native infrastructure startups in the UK, with the backing, team, and roadmap to match.

They're now hiring a Senior Director of AI/ML to lead the strategy, execution, and scaling of all applied ML efforts across the business. This is not a maintenance role, it's a hands-on, high-impact position where ML directly shapes the product, infra, and core business logic.

• Location: London-based HQ, hybrid model
• Compensation: £200,000+ base salary + high-growth equity
• Scope: End-to-end ownership of ML strategy, from research and prototyping to systems-level deployment
• Stage: Post-Series A, well-funded by top-tier VCs, growing quickly

The Opportunity

This role sits at the intersection of research, infra, and real-world deployment. You'll work with some of the brightest systems engineers, ML researchers, and product minds in the space, building out real-time, ML-powered infrastructure for scaling intelligent systems.

Where most ML leaders are kept at the edge of core engineering, here, ML is the control layer.

If you're someone who's led applied ML teams in complex environments (infra, distributed systems, cybersecurity, AI ops, etc.), this is a rare opportunity to own and grow something from first principles, without red tape or legacy blockers.

What They're Looking For

• Proven experience leading high-performing AI/ML teams in high-velocity environments.
• Deep knowledge of modern ML (supervised, unsupervised, generative, self-supervised learning, etc.).
• Strong understanding of ML systems at scale: inference pipelines, observability, MLOps, data pipelines, etc.
• Background in building ML for real-world infra, distributed systems, or low-latency environments is a big plus.
• Confident working at both strategic and technical depth, exec-level communication with the ability to go hands-on if needed.
• PhD or equivalent track record in ML, applied research, or deep systems + AI.
