Senior Document Controller / Information Manager

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Document Controller / Information Manager to join a major engineering and infrastructure organisation on an initial 12-month contract.
Based from a Manchester office with hybrid working, the role will support a major nuclear infrastructure programme in the North West. You will take responsibility for the governance, control and continuous improvement of project and asset information throughout its lifecycle, ensuring information is accurate, compliant, traceable, secure and accessible.
The Role
You will lead document control and information management activities across a complex engineering project, managing EDMS / CDE systems, information governance, compliance, audits, handover processes and document control teams.
Working closely with project managers, engineers, quality teams, clients and supply-chain partners, you will help ensure project information is managed consistently and in accordance with contractual, regulatory and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain information management plans, procedures, standards and document control processes.
* Ensure compliance with relevant project, contractual and regulatory information requirements, including ISO 19650.
* Manage the full information lifecycle including creation, review, approval, distribution, revision control, retention, archiving and retrieval.
* Administer and optimise Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) and Common Data Environments (CDE).
* Maintain accurate metadata, document registers, permissions, revision/status codes, transmittals and approval records.
* Undertake information management and document control audits, resolving non-conformances and implementing corrective actions.
* Coordinate document reviews, approvals, submissions and transmittals across internal and external stakeholders.
* Support information security, confidentiality, access control and data integrity requirements.
* Manage project closeout, archive and structured information handover.
* Produce information management reports covering compliance, performance and project readiness.
* Lead, mentor and develop Document Controllers.
* Provide training and guidance to project teams and supply-chain partners.
* Identify opportunities to improve workflows, efficiency and automation.
Ideally you’ll have
* Significant experience within document control and information management, ideally at Senior Document Controller, Lead Document Controller or Information Manager level.
* Experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure or major project environments.
* Nuclear or other highly regulated sector experience would be particularly advantageous.
* Strong working knowledge of EDMS / CDE platforms.
* Good understanding of ISO 19650 and information management standards.
* Experience managing document registers, metadata, transmittals, approvals, revision control and audit trails.
* Experience of information audits, compliance assurance and corrective action planning.
* Previous involvement in project closeout, handover and asset information requirements.
* Experience leading or mentoring Document Controllers.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Desirable
* Experience with systems such as ProjectWise, SharePoint, Documentum or other recognised EDMS / CDE platforms.
* Experience with structured information exchanges, handover data and asset information.
* Knowledge of Power BI and advanced Microsoft Office tools.
* Degree or professional qualification in Information Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline & BIM, ISO 19650, ISO 9001, PRINCE2, PMP or similar professional certification.
