About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing electrical design team. This role is ideally suited to an ambitious and career-focused engineer looking to become a key member of a multidisciplinary design team working alongside architectural, mechanical/HVAC, and process engineering disciplines.
The position involves leading electrical design packages on individual projects while supporting larger multidisciplinary projects across various RIBA design stages. The work is predominantly focused on building services, with occasional involvement in process-related electrical systems.
Projects are delivered within highly regulated environments, including the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, and high-tech manufacturing sectors, supporting the design and delivery of cleanrooms, laboratories, and advanced manufacturing facilities.
Typical systems include:
Low Voltage (LV) distribution Small power and mechanical power Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) Earthing systems Lighting and emergency lighting Access control CCTV and security systems Voice and data networks Fire alarm and detection systems, including VESDA Solar PV and renewable energy systems Building and facilities monitoring systemsWhere projects include process installations, responsibilities may also extend to controls and instrumentation.
Projects are managed using Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud), ensuring efficient collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities Produce clear design scopes, specifications, and schedules throughout all project stages. Design LV distribution systems using ElectricalOM and Trimble ProDesign. Produce lighting and emergency lighting designs using Relux and DIALux. Create LV distribution, earthing, and fire alarm schematic drawings using AutoCAD. Develop coordinated Revit models incorporating: Small power Mechanical power Earthing Lighting Access control CCTV Security systems Voice and data Fire alarm and detection systems Solar PV and renewable energy systems Building monitoring systems Ensure designs are technically accurate, coordinated with other disciplines, and suitable for construction.Candidate Requirements Qualifications Minimum Level 5 vocational qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.Experience Minimum two years' experience in electrical building services design. Experience delivering projects through multiple RIBA stages. Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams.Technical Knowledge Good understanding of BS 7671:2018+A4:2026. Knowledge of: LV distribution systems UPS systems Solar PV and renewable technologies Fire alarm systems ATEX principles (desirable)Software Skills Experience with:
