Job Description - Senior Energy Manager, Bradford

Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Senior Energy Manager who will lead the team here at Morrisons. In this role you’ll make a real difference, leading the strategy for Morrisons Net Zero Roadmap across its own operations, identifying new technology and operational opportunities to unlock savings across electricity, gas and water.

You will lead a team of 5 colleagues, and work closely with many teams across the whole organisation, including finance, procurement, maintenance, alongside the supply base to deliver change.

This is an end to end role, overseeing group spend and validation across all 3 utilities and capital expenditure, remote monitoring of assets and investing in new technology such as fridge doors. You will also be responsible for ensuring Morrisons remains compliant with carbon reporting for the group across its operation. This role offers variety on a daily basis.

This opportunity may be suitable for someone who has held a broad Energy Management role in a large multi-site organisation previously with strong commercial awareness and great stakeholder communication. Working collaboratively is key to aligning all key teams to support landing these changes.

This position follows a hybrid model with a 4.5 day working week*.

Our teams work from our vibrant head office in Bradford for three days and remotely for a day and a half, Monday to Friday.

Hilmore House, our head office, offers convenient amenities, including a subsidised on-site restaurant, coffee shop, convenience and sample store, a prayer room, free parking, and frequent company wide events and promotions.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

Responsibility for a significant Operational and Capital budget
Lead and develop new ways to save energy through a variety of funding routes
Own and lead a 3 plan to align with publicly committed targets and internal goals, with timely Board level updates.
Grow and develop team to deliver effective working environment and strong colleague engagements across the business
Drive innovation and new technologies into current operations, ranging from heating, lighting, refrigeration and building controls
Assist in developing strategies for the team, department and wider organisation
Ensure compliance with carbon and energy legislation and voluntary schemes to maintain the good reputation of the company
Maximise value from a variety of teams across the business to support in Energy reduction
Build strong relationships with external contractors, consultants and suppliers

Some of your responsibilities will include:

Responsible for a significant Operational and Capital budget and delivering a pipeline of saves across all sites and stores based on accurate data
Lead and develop new ways to save energy through a variety of funding routes
Own and lead a 3 plan and 10 year direction for the Energy team, including energy and carbon reduction, to align with publicly committed targets and internal goals
Grow and develop team to deliver effective working environment, strong colleague engagements across the business and high quality output
Drive innovation and new technologies into current operations, ranging from heating, lighting, refrigeration and building controls
Assist in developing strategies for the team, department and wider organisation
Ensure compliance with carbon and energy legislation and voluntary schemes to maintain the good reputation of the company
Maximise value from the Maintenance, Food Services, Property and Estate teams, through operational improvement, new ideas from the ground, specification control and cost reductions in build or PPMS
Drive forward plans and timely updates at Board level
Build strong relationships with external contractors, consultants and suppliers
Contribute to meeting the department’s annual budget to ensure expenditure is in line with known agreements and plans
