About the role
An established ground investigation specialist is looking for a Senior Engineer to join its Exeter team. You'll work on a varied mix of geotechnical and geoenvironmental projects across the South West, helping clients understand ground conditions and manage risk before construction begins.
The role combines practical site work with technical input in the office. You'll take the lead on more challenging investigations, support the delivery of projects from fieldwork through to reporting, and share your knowledge with engineers developing their experience. There is flexibility to shape the balance of site and office work around your strengths.
What you'll do
·Lead and supervise ground investigation work on site.
·Provide technical advice when projects present complex ground conditions or unexpected challenges.
·Support the planning, delivery and reporting of investigations.
·Help maintain high standards of safety, data quality and client service.
·Guide and support colleagues across the wider engineering team.
What we're looking for
You'll have substantial experience in ground investigation and the confidence to make sound decisions on site. A background in geology, earth or environmental science, civil engineering, or a related discipline would be well suited to the role.
You'll be comfortable working with clients and colleagues, enjoy solving practical problems, and take pride in delivering reliable technical work. A full UK driving licence is required for site travel.

Hybrid working of up to two days a week may be available, depending on project needs.
