Job Description - Senior Engineer - River and Coastal
Our client, a leading international engineering and consultancy firm, is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its climate resilience team, working on fluvial and coastal flood risk management projects across the UK and Europe. The role covers the full project lifecycle from feasibility and appraisal through to detailed design and construction support, often across multiple concurrent projects.
Key responsibilities include leading and supporting river and coastal engineering projects, applying digital engineering and BIM tools, preparing technical reports and design packages, checking the work of junior colleagues, leading design teams, and contributing technical input to business development bids.
Candidate requirements: a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's desirable), Chartered or near-Chartered status (CEng), and at least 5 years of relevant experience delivering fluvial and/or coastal flood defence schemes. Strong communication skills, site experience, and familiarity with construction contracts are expected.
Locations: Brighton, Peterborough, Leeds, Exeter, or Newcastle (UK).

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (essential); Master's degree (desirable)
- Chartered or nearly Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng)
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, geotechnics, structures and materials
- Experience with digital engineering/3D design and BIM
- Experience preparing feasibility studies, option appraisal reports and business cases
- Experience leading design teams and site experience as Contractor or Designer
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
