Job Description - Senior Estimator

Job Title: Senior Estimator – Construction
Location: Letchworth (Covering Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire)
Salary: Competitive
Type: Full-time, Permanent

Job Overview An established and growing construction firm is seeking a skilled Senior Estimator to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a variety of residential and commercial projects across the region. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing profitable contracts and ensuring accurate cost planning throughout the tender process.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the estimation process from initial enquiry to final tender submission
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects
Analyse drawings, specifications, and documentation to determine project costs
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to assess requirements
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes
Monitor project budgets and ensure alignment with estimates
Contribute to tender documentation and pricing negotiations
Stay informed on market trends, material costs, and industry standards
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Factor in inflation, exchange rates, and projected timelines
Stay current with construction technologies and innovations
Visit proposed construction sites for assessments
Present bids to clients and respond to queries
Prepare and submit quotations for work

Candidate Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator in the construction industry
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
Proficiency in estimating software and tools
Excellent numerical and analytical skills
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong communication and negotiation abilities
Detail-oriented and collaborative team player
Relevant qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, or related field (preferred)
