Job Title: Senior Estimator - Structural Steelwork

Location: Cheslyn Hay, Walsall

Salary: Circa £50k dependent upon experience

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for structural steel projects. This role requires a deep understanding of structural steelwork, materials, and labour costs, along with excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects.
• Analyse design proposals and related documents to identify potential challenges and opportunities for cost savings.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify project requirements and specifications.
• Prepare and maintain a comprehensive database of costs for materials, labour and equipment related to structural steel projects.
• Produce detailed bid proposals, including itemized costs and project timelines.
• Conduct site appraisals to assess existing conditions and gather information for accurate cost inclusions.
• Monitor and update estimates as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in negotiations with clients and principle contractors as necessary to secure projects.
• Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to enhance estimation accuracy and competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator in the structural steel industry or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel construction techniques and materials.
• Proficient in estimation software and tools (Company generated system)
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet deadlines.
