Senior External Communications Manager

Job Description

Our FTSE plc client is looking for an experienced external communications professional to join the Group Communications team to add weight and expertise to the team and support their drive to raise the organisation's profile and promote it's compelling story.

Working closely with stakeholders and peers across the business, you'll lead on the delivery of the annual report, sourcing content, developing insights and devising communications plans and activity that leverage these insights in support of business goals. You'll foster strong working relationships internally with finance, sustainability and business operations teams, and will build relationships externally - across media and a range of other stakeholders - to raise the profile and reputation of the business.

Beyond the annual report, you will also support the Communications Director with wider corporate communications activity, and work alongside business leadership and communicators across the business to develop cohesive messaging.

We're looking for someone who has substantial hands-on experience of annual report preparation within a FTSE listed plc, whether agency side or in house, or both. You'll be tenacious, resilient, creative, organised and detail-orientated in your approach, and will be a consummate relationship builder and story teller. We are looking to engage with corporate affairs professionals with strong experience in leading organisations through major planning and development projects; of particular interest would be a background in either infrastructure, transport, housing, utilities, property or similar sectors.

The role is based in the southwest and knowledge of the regional political landscape would be a significant benefit.

Hybrid working, with an anticipated 3 days/week on site (near Bristol); as the role is leading on regional stakeholder engagement, we are looking for people based locally and/or prepared to relocate.
