Job Description - Senior Field Service Engineer

The Senior Field Service Engineer position requires nationwide travel to company sites. Where possible, you will travel to sites nearer to your location, but flexibility must be given. Company van, fuel card, food allowance and hotel accommodation will all be provided.

Role & Responsibilities:

To carry out the maintenance and repair to clients Assets within their depots
as scheduled, by reactive call outs and or as instructed by the Divisional
Manager or the Maintenance Supervisor.
The Senior Engineer is to adhere to the company policies and procedures. The
post holder shall be responsible for adhering to operational and site safety issues,
reporting back to the Divisional Manager / Maintenance Supervisor.

Competencies:

On application the prospective candidate shall be competent or be able to
show experience to a site "engineering "status and be required to:-
Have extensive engineering experience, rail preferable.
Have a thorough understanding of the nature of the work, the working
environment and the potential hazards.
Have a thorough understanding of the correct use of tools and
equipment.
Carry qualifications, be time served, competent in Electrical and
Mechanical systems.
Have a good understanding of IT to enable emails and reports to
be completed.
Willing to undertake further training courses as and when required.

Within three months of employment:-

The post holder shall have received familiaration if applicable
and appropriate in the correct use of hand tools and
equipment.
Hold a valid PTS certificate
Have a good understanding of CWM's, CET's and fueling systems.
The key requirements are to;
Be the first point of contact with the Client
Ensure that you are booked on and off site by the clients representative,
following site procedures.
Ensure the job sheet / PPM forms / Site reports are completed daily,
correctly and signed by the client and submitted within your daily
working hours.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Report for duty in possession of the required certificates for the work
to be undertaken and are wearing the appropriate PPE.
To report for duty NOT under the influence of alcohol or illegal
drugs. Ensure a declaration form has been completed if you are
taking prescribed drugs when PTS certification is achieved.
Have a clear understanding of the Method Statement and Risk
Assessment and WPP for the work to be carried out and read
and sign for each site that you attend.
Have a clear understanding of the emergency procedures to be
followed in case of accidents & incidents.
Report all accidents or incidents to your line Manager and
Maintenance Support Team immediately.
Ensure that the company mobile telephone is functional and
charged for the shift.
When excess hours are required to be worked in times of emergency
The line Manager / Maintenance Supervisor team must be informed
to enable a Risk assessment to be carried out.
Report any non-attendance of staff to the line manager.
Manager/Maintenance Supervisor in accordance with the
company handbook.
Forward all completed timesheets and maintenance paperwork to
the Maintenance support team, on the requested day via the
online reporting system.
Keep the company vehicle in good condition and report any vehicle
defects or incidents/accidents immediately via the office and online
reporting system.
Ensure the issued PPE is kept to a clean, professional standard. PPE
defects to be reported to the Maintenance support team for
replacement.
Be "on-call" as per the call-out rota issued·
Attend, as required, engineering meetings and client safety meetings
A senior engineer will be responsible for being the job lead on jobs when
required.
A senior engineer can expect to receive calls from within the business.
They will be expected to mentor and lead by example giving help and
advice in line with their experience.
Must possess particular practical engineering skills with adequate
technical supervisory knowledge so as to be able to work in the most
efficient and economical manner and also to work alongside colleagues
in a lead role passing on knowledge and experience.
Must be in possession of the appropriate tools and equipment required
for the job.
Have and promote a proactive approach to work practices.
Maintain the best interest of the company at all times.
Must sign off trainee and junior engineers work sheets and assist with
training of junior staff.
You will be required to stay in overnight accommodation as per the
business needs.
