About the team and the role

As Ocado Retail moves into its next phase of profitable growth, maximising our alternative margin streams is more critical than ever. This role sits within our Commercial Finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager for Stock and Supply Chain.

As the Senior Finance Analyst - Other Gross Profit and Supply Chain, you will be the financial engine driving sustainable, profitable growth across our core gross profit and supply chain levers, managing an annual £130m budget.. This is a highly collaborative, cross-functional role where you will challenge assumptions, manage financial risks and opportunities (R&Os), and present clear, actionable outlooks directly to senior leadership to guide strategic decision-making.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will take ownership of cross-functional financial drivers and act as a strategic business partner. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Financial Business Partnering: Act as the lead finance partner to the Own Brand and Sustainability teams. You will also support the Supply Chain team with inventory management across the network, ensuring alignment between physical capacity and financial targets.

• Gross Profit Optimisation: Supervise and provide deep-dive analysis on gross profit drivers and variances. This includes monitoring own-brand performance, managing the Ocado Price Promise forecasting and overseeing sustainability-linked financials; including Extended Producer Responsibility cost models, bag funds, and charitable donations.

• Stock Value Extraction & Recovery: Manage total Gross "Purge" and Recovery elements through partnerships (such as Company Shop and our 'You Give We Give' campaign). You will also oversee the recovery of Supplier Recharges and Product Recalls to minimise financial leakage.

• Drive Network Efficiency: Provide deep-dive analysis on various Inbound Picking & Delivery and Post Dispatch Adjustments projects. You will also provide financial insight in monthly SteerCo meetings with members of senior leadership, including the CFO and Supply Chain Director.

• Financial Planning & Technology Transformation: Coordinate commercial financial inputs for monthly reforecasts, annual budgets, and 5-year strategic planning cycles. Additionally, you will support the implementation of a new stock ledger as part of our wider finance system rollout to maintain complete margin and stock data integrity.

• Business Case Development: Support the Finance Manager with the end-to-end financial business case development for targeted margin-improvement and supply chain transformation projects.

Who you are

• Commercial Finance Background: Proven experience managing gross profit drivers, financial risk analysis, and variance tracking.

• Strategic Business Partnering: Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships across internal cross-functional teams and external providers.

• Commercial Awareness & Influence: Clear understanding of cost drivers and contract risks, with the ability to present credible, actionable insights to senior leadership.

• Financial Modeling & Systems: Experience supporting complex financial processes (such as budgeting, forecasting, or system implementations) and building end-to-end business cases.

• Accountability & Drive: A proactive professional who takes ownership of commercial delivery and continually seeks service and cost efficiencies.

• Experience or interest in incorporating AI into financial workflows to drive new efficiencies in margin tracking and data analysis.

• Qualified accountant: 1+ years post qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
