Senior Finance Assistant / Legal Cashier

Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be partnering with a leading top 40 international law firm who are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Assistant who understands the Solicitors Regulations Authority Accounts Rules as you will play a key role supporting the wider finance team.

You will have previous legal cashiering experience and broader finance knowledge covering inter-account transfers, advising fee earners on correct accounting procedures, undertake extensive reconciliations, assist with purchase ledger and month-end close.

Your new role
Your duties will involve working closely with the wider finance teams and being responsible for processing client and office account transactions in compliance with SRA regulations and best practices, conducting inter-account transfers, assisting with purchase ledger invoices and payments, liaising with external clients regarding the firm's credit card line, and supporting the team with various month-end procedures.

You will also provide guidance to fee earners and executive assistants on proper accounting procedures, offer financial assistance and information to support fee earners in completing their client work accurately and efficiently, assist with regular bank reconciliations and posting necessary corrections, as well as answer queries from clients, banks, and other related institutions.

As an experienced senior finance clerk / legal cashier, you will be part of the team in proposing ways for the finance team to enhance efficiency through better use of technology or changes in working practices, assist in the consistent firm-wide implementation of new systems and practices, building strong relationships with fee earners and executive assistants, and collaborate with other finance team members on billing, credit control support, and managing working capital.

What you'll need to succeed
Ideally, you will have proven experience as a legal cashier, have a solid educational background and hold or be actively pursuing an accounting qualification (AAT or ILFM (Dip) qualification), and be able to demonstrate strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, along with excellent attention to detail with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to interact across all levels of the business.
