Description

The Senior Finance Business Partner plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering financial insight that drives strategic decision-making across the RHS. With a proactive and solution-oriented approach, the role leads financial conversations, fosters strong partnerships, and brings clarity to complex data. Acting as a trusted advisor, the postholder influences operational and commercial outcomes, champions innovation, and upholds RHS values and behaviours while ensuring financial stewardship supports the charity's long-term objectives.

Responsibility for providing a holistic approach to finance business partnering for multiple functional stakeholders including P&L support with consideration given to income, margins, operating costs & profit for purpose;

Provide overall capital for the gardens and estate projects, producing capital investment appraisals as required to support business cases;

Provide overall financial insights into key business drivers to support the development of the business areas strategic objectives and annual budgets;

Overall responsibility for the financial support of the garden through the financial planning, annual budgeting and forecasting processes with a view to set realistic and achievable targets;

Support the Finance Business Partners and Analyst to develop tactical delivery plans to support the overarching financial objectives of the business areas;

Able to use sound business acumen to assess new ideas from both operational and financial perspectives to articulate the impacts with clear and meaningful recommendations;

Support the Head of Finance by producing complex/ bespoke analysis that requires sound business acumen and understanding of business trends;

Understand and support the wider business to maintain audit and financial legislative standards, using the team to embed good practice;

Preparation of month end commentary, providing insights and suggestions for remedial activities;

Investigates and questions reported trends in KPIs with stakeholder group and implements mid to short term plans to maximise performance;

Challenge unusual P&L movements, forecasts and fluctuations to ensure forecast and actual financial performance is robust;

Responsible for financial analysis of key business drivers using standard suite of reporting tools and data from other internal and external sources;

Act as the finance leader to build and maintain partnerships to develop strong networks across the area of responsibility.

Profile

Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and present complex financial data clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Proven ability to build strong partnerships and networks across business areas.

Skilled in making clear, evidence-based recommendations to improve business performance.

Ability to challenge and influence stakeholders using sound business cases and financial insight.

Effective communicator with the ability to translate technical financial detail into accessible language.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a commercial finance role

Proven experience in budgeting and forecasting processes.

Familiarity with capital investment appraisal and financial modelling

Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
