Job Description - Senior FP&A Partner

Description

At OQC, we aren’t just theorising about the future; we’re building it. Born from a philosophy of bold innovation, we’ve successfully transitioned quantum computing from an academic dream into a commercial reality.

The most exciting thing is that we’re just getting started and we’ve recently closed our £260 million Series C funding round – the largest fundraise ever completed by a quantum computing company in Europe.

The Purpose

As a Senior FP&A Partner, you will play a critical role in shaping financial decision-making across a rapidly scaling, capital-intensive business. Partnering closely with senior leaders, you'll translate complex financial performance into clear commercial insights, enabling responsible investment, strategic growth, and operational excellence.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of FP&A, you'll own key planning, forecasting, and performance analysis activities across the Group. Acting as a trusted adviser to stakeholders across technical and commercial teams, you'll help drive financial visibility, challenge assumptions, and support decisions that accelerate OQC's growth.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities, ensuring financial plans are accurate, aligned, and delivered on time.
  • Own and continuously improve core FP&A models, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, long-range plans, and cash runway analysis.
  • Deliver insightful variance analysis, identifying key performance drivers, risks, and opportunities across the business.
  • Translate financial and operational data into compelling business narratives that support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to improve financial visibility, challenge assumptions, and support effective capital deployment.
  • Produce high-quality reporting, presentations, and analysis for the CFO and senior leadership team.
  • Support business growth through financial modelling, operational planning, investment analysis, international expansion activities, and continuous improvement of FP&A processes, systems, and reporting.

What We're Looking For

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience delivering budgeting and forecasting within a fast-paced, scaling, or capital-intensive environment.
  • Proven track record building and maintaining financial planning and forecasting models.
  • Experience producing financial analysis and performance reporting for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and operational KPI reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including scenario modelling, pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility across highly technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working cross-functionally to gather assumptions, challenge thinking, and support informed decision-making.
  • Financial systems experience, including ERP platforms such as NetSuite.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented approach, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

The 'Nice-to-Haves'

  • Experience supporting fundraising or investor reporting activities.
  • Exposure to SaaS or recurring revenue business models.
  • Experience with ROI analysis, scenario modelling, or investment appraisal.
  • Exposure to commercial evaluations, capital deployment decisions, or operational planning activities.
  • Experience working with auditors or external advisors.
  • Knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualisation tools.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reporting tools, or finance process automation.
  • Exposure to international expansion, multi-site operations, or global business environments.

Why Join OQC

You will join a world-class team at the forefront of the next computational era. We offer a culture of bold innovation, the chance to work with unique lab infrastructure, and the opportunity to see your work redefine the limits of computation.
