They operate across residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors, providing services including ground investigations, geotechnical assessments, contaminated land reporting, foundation design input, and earthworks advice. The business is known for producing technically robust reports, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering projects with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach. With a growing pipeline of work, they are looking to invest in experienced engineers who want genuine project ownership and the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the company. Unlike larger corporate consultancies, this role offers greater autonomy, closer collaboration with decision-makers, and the ability to directly influence technical delivery and standards. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to strengthen their technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys a mix of technical delivery, project management, and client interaction, and is looking to take the next step within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy. The Role You will be responsible for managing and delivering a range of geotechnical and contaminated land projects from initial site investigation through to reporting and client sign-off. Key responsibilities include: Designing, supervising and managing ground investigations Logging soil and rock in accordance with BS5930 and EC7 Interpreting geotechnical and geoenvironmental data Preparing Phase I and Phase II reports Undertaking geotechnical assessments (foundations, earthworks, slope stability) Contaminated land risk assessments and remediation strategy input Managing budgets, programmes, and subcontractors Liaising directly with clients, regulators, and contractors Mentoring junior engineers and supporting technical development Candidate Profile Degree qualified in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar 5+ years' relevant consultancy experience Strong knowledge of UK ground investigation practice and reporting standards Experience in both geotechnical and contaminated land projects desirable Commercial awareness and client-facing experience Full UK driving licence Benefits Competitive salary Hybrid working flexibility Annual performance-related bonus Company pension scheme 25 Days holidays + Bank Holidays Hybrid / flexible working arrangements Paid professional membership fees (e.g. ICE, IGS, CIWEM) Support towards Chartership and continued professional development Ongoing technical training and career progression opportunities Exposure to a varied and technically interesting project portfolio Opportunity for real project ownership and client-facing responsibility Supportive, collaborative team environment Clear pathway to Senior / Principal level progression Inclusion Statement Our client is committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce and welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
