Sarum Road Hospital in Winchester is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Wards department. This role is ideal for an experienced NVQ Level 3 candidate (surgical experience desirable) who is ready to develop greater autonomy while working within a safe, supportive and professionally led environment.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. Working across a range of shifts, you will manage your own delegated patient caseload under the supervision of the Registered Nurse team, contributing to high-quality care across a mix of elective day case and inpatient procedures including orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology and urology.

We are developing pathways in medical oncology, enhanced care and discharge, and there is investment and expansion of multiple services and our site in progress.

Through the process we are able to offer informal department visits/calls.

Duties of this role include:

  • Deliver person-centred care including assisting with personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, toileting, and emotional support.

  • Support patients with dignity, respect, and compassion, ensuring their needs are met safely and sensitively.
  • Assist with clinical procedures and the preparation of equipment and materials.
  • Report any changes in a patient’s condition to the nursing team promptly.
  • Contribute to safe patient transfers, discharge preparation, and documentation.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification/experience).
  • Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Ability to carry out delegated clinical tasks safely and confidently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support and supervise junior staff members.
  • Surgical experience is desirable.
