Job Description - Senior human resources business partner

We are retained by our client, an exciting fast growth renewables business in Sheffield, to manage a search for their first Head of People.

Set to become the number one firm in clean energy tech in the UK & Europe, there has never been a better time to join, to support their ambitious plans in a role and sector with a very clear purpose.

This is business acquired last year by a European Group with a HQ based in London, you will be responsible for the entire Sheffield operation, generating over £30million revenue and aspirations to grow to £50million and £100million over the next 3-5 years.

As the business has grown so successfully, this role has been created to build on their progressive culture and implement the right policies and procedures to enable them to continue to scale but also ensure every employee has the necessary tools and environment to thrive and succeed.

We are searching for an energetic and qualified Head of People to work on-site at the office, reporting to the Regional Managing Director and Group Director of People & Culture.

Key experience and responsibilities: Leading the People function to ensure the delivery of a high quality, focused approach to aligning HR practices with the companies objectives.

Review and make improvements and changes where required, using your experience, insights and thought leadership to challenge the status quo, providing sound leadership in all people related issues.

Work with employees to improve retention and ensure employee needs are being met.

Partner closely with all key stakeholders , communicating effectively at all levels to support the business and align the people strategy to the commercial objectives.

Project manage the implementation of a new HRIS.

Build strong relationships with senior leaders, becoming their trusted advisor and support effective behaviours that clearly demonstrate the values of the business.

Develop and govern the HR policies and guidelines, ensuring all required legislation is adhered to.

Design and build a learning and training programme that will engage employees and nurture their talents – identify areas where skills and experience can be expanded, working collaboratively with others to ensure that all the tools and resources are accessible.

Develop and support leaders and people managers across the organisation to deliver their priorities effectively through their teams.

Own the recruitment strategy, working with the internal teams and external partners to deliver an outstanding candidate experience.

Talent Management - oversee succession planning, identifying any skills gaps and advising on how best to overcome.

Ensure performance reviews and employee 1:1s are implemented regularly, identifying ways recognition and development initiatives can be met.

Support the Board with accurate and timely, professional monthly board reports.

To Be Successful: CIPD qualified is preferred or experience in a similar role and/or organisation.

Up to date knowledge or HR and organisational development practises – including change management, compensation and benefits and policy development.

Demonstrable experience operating at a senior level having managed multi-disciplinary teams.

The ability to plan creatively at both strategic and operational levels.

Experience leading a lean HR function and managing change and transformation successfully.

A passion for renewables/clean-energy technology desirable.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Willing to adjust to multiple demands, showing flexibility and being able to prioritise.
