Job DescriptionSenior HVDC System Engineer (£Excellent + Bonus + Benefits) – EnglandAre you ready to shape the future of power transmission and lead groundbreaking HVDC projects? We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior HVDC System Engineer to join a leading global renewable technology company based in the UK with a significant pipeline of projects and orders globally.The CompanyYou would be working for a leading global technology company with a strong focus on providing innovative and sustainable energy solutions. Its diverse portfolio prioritises energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, shaping a brighter, sustainable future for communities worldwide.The RoleYou will act as a representative to external stakeholders, such as clients, third-party suppliers, and professional bodies (IEC, Cigré, etc.). You will also collaborate with internal stakeholders within the HVDC business and the larger renewable organisation. Additionally, there will be opportunities to create innovative solutions and publish work internationally in scientific papers and patents.Role ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with various internal departments including the Solution Centre, Operations (for customer projects), Technology (for R&D projects), Strategic Sourcing, Quality, and other engineering teams.Engage with major suppliers, customers, consultants, professional organizations, statutory bodies, and competitors.Develop integrated designs for HVDC systems that meet customer needs and optimize subsystems for cost-effectiveness.Assess over voltage stresses on high voltage equipment and determine protective levels for surge arresters.Manage the life-cycle of high-value HV equipment such as power transformers, instrument transformers, reactors, capacitors, and surge arresters.Develop and validate RAM models for HVDC systems, providing insights and managing risks throughout the life cycle.Create and validate models for electrical power losses in HVDC systems, addressing risks and opportunities.Lead projects within the Systems department and coordinate with other engineering teams.Develop and implement engineering processes and best practices, ensure adherence to company policies and quality procedures, and promptly resolve non-conformances.Develop and industrialize solutions, tools, and processes for engineering activities.Identify and mitigate EHS risks, demonstrate safe practices, and participate actively in corrective actions.ToolsPSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, Python and MATLAB.The PersonBachelors or a master's degree within Power System Engineering.Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in the energy field of electrical power.Required: Power System Design, Circuit analysis, reactive power design, HVAC/HVDC domain knowledge, HV equipment specification, design and testing, RAM assessment and management, Electrical power system modelling and analysis, insulation co-ordination, audible noise assessment and mitigation.Desired: Network Studies, Transient Studies, Harmonic Analysis, Power Quality StudiesIf you would like to join a leading global renewable technology company, where your progression opportunities are limited only by your own desire to succeed, you are encouraged to make your application without delay.NO VISA SPONSORSHIP Samuel PattersonRecruitment Consultant - Executive SearchHunter Philips Global Executive SearchMobile: +447435997322Email: [email protected]: www.hunterphilips.com
