Job Description - Senior Infrastructure Engineer/Monitoring SME
We are looking for an experienced Monitoring & Infrastructure Engineer with strong Microsoft SCOM expertise, solid Windows Server (Wintel) skills, and hands-on experience in hybrid on‑premise and Azure environments. The role focusses on supporting and enhancing enterprise monitoring and observability platforms, while also providing 3rd line infrastructure support across Windows, VMware, and Azure-based systems. The engineer will support BAU operations and project delivery within a large-scale enterprise environment. Key Responsibilities
Operate and improve monitoring platforms including SCOM, Azure Monitor, PRTG, and VMware Aria Operations Develop and tune alerts, dashboards, and service views to improve proactive monitoring and reduce noise. Build and maintain SCOM Management Packs and monitoring configurations Automate monitoring and health checks using PowerShell Provide 3rd line support for Windows Server and VMware environments Support Azure hybrid services, including Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure Arc Work with infrastructure, cloud, application, and security teams on service onboarding, incidents, and RCA Integrate monitoring tools with ITSM platforms (e.g. ServiceNow)Essential Skills
Strong Windows Server administration and troubleshooting experience Hands-on experience with SCOM and enterprise monitoring tools Experience in hybrid cloud (on‑prem + Azure) environments PowerShell scripting for automation Knowledge of VMware, monitoring concepts, and ITIL processes Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsDesirable
SCOM Management Pack authoring/tuning DevOps / CI/CD exposure SIEM or security-monitoring integrations Linux (RHEL) experience Enterprise-scale infrastructure backgroundThis position will cover a duration of up to 6 months. There is a hybrid working policy and will require you to work 3 days per week on-site. This position is also subject to SC level security clearance. While this is an advantage, it is not an essential requirement to apply for the position.
