Senior Legal Counsel - Intellectual Property | High-Growth Tech Start-Up

Location: Birmingham (hybrid)
Reporting into: General Counsel
Salary: Up to £90,000 + package

We're seeking a forward-thinking Senior IP Lawyer to join the global legal function of a rapidly scaling international start-up at the forefront of technology, innovation, and advanced manufacturing.

This UK-based position reports directly to the General Counsel and offers a unique platform to shape and protect the company's global IP footprint. ? The Role
As a key member of the legal team, you will drive the development, protection, and enforcement of a robust global IP portfolio. Your work will span patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and corporate legal strategy, with direct impact on the company's innovation pipeline and commercial growth.

Core Focus Areas:

• Lead and support IP strategy development across international markets.

• Oversee IP portfolio management and governance in alignment with business objectives.

• Partner with cross-functional teams (R&D, brand, commercial) to identify, register, and protect IP assets.

• Coordinate with external counsel on filings, prosecution, and enforcement activities.

• Provide strategic input on IP litigation and risk management.

• Monitor legal developments across IP and corporate law that may impact operations.

?? What We're Looking For

• UK Qualified lawyer (LLB/LLM or equivalent) with a specialisation in Intellectual Property.

• Strong background in IP law-ideally within a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team.

• Experience managing cross-border IP portfolios and working with international treaties.

• Commercially minded, with the ability to translate legal insight into strategic action.

• Industry experience in tech, automotive, advanced manufacturing, or R&D is highly valued.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
