About Us:

The Financial Ombudsman Service is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that plays a vital role in UK financial services. Every day we help resolve disputes between consumers, or small businesses, and their financial service providers.

What You’ll Do:

You’ll lead the design and delivery of high-impact learning and development solutions, taking full ownership from concept through to evaluation. Working closely with HR and senior stakeholders, you’ll ensure learning strategies align with organisational goals, deliver leadership and organisation-wide programmes, and use data insights to drive decisions. You’ll also manage external partners, oversee corporate induction, and act as a key contact for complex queries and sponsorship requests.

This role offers real influence and autonomy, where you’ll shape capability across the organisation. You’ll support colleagues to build skills, mentor L&D team members, and champion early careers programmes, all while driving a strong, inclusive learning culture. If you’re motivated by making a visible impact and leading meaningful change, this is a challenge worth taking.

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to show us that you’ve got the skills and capabilities. You’ll have to meet the following minimum criteria:

Minimum Criteria –

  • Proven experience working in a learning and development (L&D) environment, delivering programmes or initiatives.
  • Evidence of managing high-impact, strategically important L&D projects from design through to evaluation.
  • Strong project management capability, with experience delivering complex, multi-strand programmes to deadlines.
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills, with evidence of engaging and influencing senior stakeholders and tailoring communication to different audiences.
  • Experience using L&D technology platforms and digital learning tools (e.g. LMS/LXP), with a focus on continuous improvement.

It would also be nice for you to have -

  • Ability to show adaptability and flexibility in a changing environment, managing shifting priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of HCM/HRIS/LMS/LXP systems to support and enhance learning delivery (Workday experience is advantageous).
  • Ability to demonstrate collaborative working and critical thinking to solve problems and improve ways of working.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, to support delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • A proactive approach to supporting an inclusive learning culture, aligned to organisational values.
